58th Annual Conference of TPA
Chairman's words
Dear Taiwan Psychological Society members, teachers and advanced, hello everyone:
_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5 The 18th Annual Taiwan Psychological Society On November 2nd (Saturday) and November 3rd (Sunday) in 108, the event was held at Kaohsiung Medical University for two consecutive days, organized by the Department of Psychology, Kaohsiung Medical University. On behalf of the Taiwan Psychological Society, I sincerely invite Come and join us at the psychology community's annual event. First of all, I would like to thank all the teachers and students of the Department of Psychology of Kaohsiung Medical University for their willingness to host this year's Psychology Annual Conference. At the beginning of this year, for some reason, it was not clear which unit would host the annual meeting of psychology. Finally, Director Wu Jinqin of the Department of Psychology of Kaohsiung Medical University was willing to take on the heavy responsibility of hosting the annual meeting, and quickly submitted the annual meeting plan. The department hosted the Taiwan Psychology Annual Conference more than ten years ago, and last year it took over the important task of the Taiwan Applied Psychology Annual Conference.
_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5 Annual Meeting Emerging Research Topics" and "Current Social Issues" are the dual themes of the annual meeting. Nearly 300 papers were submitted this year, and the agenda included keynote speeches, presentations by the Dissertation Award and Dissertation Award winners, poster papers, oral presentation papers, invited short lectures, career talks and appointments with the editor-in-chief. Emerging research topics will be explained by Prof. Kang Yingyi using subjective socioeconomic status as an example to explain how to conduct cross-disciplinary research and Prof. Siu Furen discussing the application of AI in brain science. The current social issues are discussed by Professor Huang Rongcun on the 20th anniversary of the 921 earthquake, Taiwan's decision-making mode and collective behavior in the face of disasters, which is particularly important for Taiwan, where extreme climates are becoming more and more common. Another social issue is gender equality. Professor Li Yiqing was invited to discuss how psychologists can contribute to gender equality. Given that Taiwan has become the first country in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage, this issue urgently requires the participation of Taiwanese psychologists in the future. In addition, through the appointment with the editor-in-chief sponsored by the Chinese Journal of Psychology, participants can discuss the first draft of the paper they have written with the editor-in-chief of the journal, shorten the time for paper submission and actual publication, and increase the rate of paper acceptance for publication.
_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad The Yu Dissertation Award and the Chinese Journal of Psychology Paper Award are presented, and Yang Guoshu and Su Xiangyu are invited to give speeches to young scholars and Ph.D. winners. There are many applications for the two dissertation awards this year, and the quality is both. Even if the number of winners selected by the review committee has reached the upper limit, there are still regrets. You can look forward to the content of the speeches of the winners on the afternoon of November 3rd. Brilliant.

This year, a total of 24 Japanese researchers, teachers and students submitted papers for publication, working together to promote academic exchanges in psychology between Taiwan and Japan. Among them, Professor Takao Sato, the former chairman of the Japanese Psychological Society, will give a short lecture on the afternoon of 11/3, about the latest research results of the Mona Lisa effect. Another short lecture invited during this period is also honored to invite Associate Professor Xie Bojian from the Department of Psychology of National Taiwan University to take us to understand how consciousness arises and how it functions. I believe that the two short lectures will be very exciting and let people look forward to it!
_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad Career Lectures. In the past, the annual meeting was mainly about academic topics. Academic research is of course the soil for the development of psychology, but each branch grows in a different direction. Some will continue to focus on academic research, while others will bring their knowledge of psychology to different career fields and bear fruitful results. Therefore, the Society specially organized a career lecture this year, and invited Dr. Cai Zhihao from the field of user experience and Dr. Yu Sixian from the non-profit organization to share how to apply psychological knowledge in the field of workplace. The lecture was also assisted by a number of graduate students from different universities to guide the society to understand the needs of students. The Society is currently organizing a student leader organization, hoping that the activities of the Society in the future will be more in line with what students need to learn. Regardless of whether a student continues to invest in academic research in the future, psychology can be a source of knowledge that he or she can rely on throughout his/her life.
_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad The advanced academic circles and friends will participate in the grand event and enjoy the two-day knowledge feast. At the same time, please invite your colleagues, students and friends to participate together, so that friends in the field of psychology can have the opportunity to gather and discuss together. Stimulate more sparks of knowledge that contributes to society. I believe that with our joint efforts, the future development of Taiwanese psychology will be more vigorous and vigorous.
